K-Drama fever

For those who know me, one thing significant about me is my craze for anything Korean. Ever since I got into the K pop craze when my Korean friend introduced to me - Haru Haru by Big Bang back in 2008, the rest was history I could say. Right now, I'm no longer that into K-pop but I still love the cuisine, the language and the people! Although I have not been to Korea before but I have been diligently taking Korean classes. 안영~ =)

Ok, enough about my Korean craze. Let's talk about the dramas that I've been watching recently. Sadly, the big dramas of the year just ended - "The Heirs" featuring so many big names including "Lee Min Ho". At first I thought the show wasn't appealing enough to me, firstly cos' I'm not a big Lee Min Ho fan and yeah I thought it would be your typical "Rich guy meet poor girl" storyline. But luckily, the scriptwriters did not disappoint us! :) The drama had such a nice ending to it! Love it!

Another drama I really liked initially was "Marry Him if you Dare". Somehow or another, I'm quite a Yoon Eun Hae fan. Love how versatile her acting can be, just like how she portray her character in "Miss You" (2012), I knew she was one actress who can deliver up to viewer's expectations. Show's concept was quite interesting, with Mi Rae (Yoon Eun Hae) 's future self travelling back in time just to try to stop an unhappy marriage only to discover many drama along the way. Sadly, the ending wasn't up to my expectations >< However, I did enjoy "Lee Dong Gun" charismatic acting! Somehow I really like older, matured actors (around 30+ years ago) who can be so charming in a way :D Yong Hwa's acting was kinda disappointing in this drama in my opinion. Hope he'll have better roles in dramas in the future!

Dramas currently airing

I think for Korean dramas, the more blockbuster dramas comes late in the year. After "The Heirs", dramas like "Bel Ami", "My Love who came from the Stars" and "Miss Korea" and "Prime Minister and I" looks quite promising. Just a penny of my thoughts below..

image

"Bel Ami" (Pretty Man) ★★★☆☆
I was totally excited for this show because the Main Cast is no other than "IU" and "Jang Geun Suk"!!! Who wouldn't be attracted to this show! Watched the trailer before it started airing and I was just so excited. HOWEVER, sadly, I felt the drama did not get me hooked. The storyline was boring, humour factor wasn't there too. And being someone's that easily bored, I WAS BORED IN THE FIRST TWO EPISODES ALREADY. What a bummer.. Had such high hopes for this drama but just didn't like the story. However I really like "Lee Jang Woo" in the drama whenever he gets smitten over "IU", such a cutie :) Anyways, I stopped watching around episode 4/5??? Good if you liked it, just my personal preference.

image

Miss Korea ★★★☆☆

Oh yes, love the main I must say! Featuring "Lee Yeon Hee" (love her role in "Hello Schoolgirl" and "Lee Sun Kyun" (absolutely love him in "Pasta"!) Take note that the drama portrays Korea in 1997 which explains the weird dressing and all. So basically "Lee Sun Kyun" is the director of a Cosmetic line trying to find business while being chased by hooligans due to the unpaid debt. His colleagues then suggested of nurturing a "Miss Korea" to promote their products, hoping that they can get some investors somehow. Haven't watched much into this drama yet to know the whole storyline but I guess it's worth watching(?), given the great cast and hopefully storyline. But on a honest note, I'm a bit bored in the initial episode, hope that it would get more interesting than this!

image

You who came from the Stars★★★★☆

Featuring oh-so-popular "Kim Soo Hyun" (who shot to fame after acting in Dream High along side Suzy) and Jun Ji Hyun (who came back after 14 years away from the drama series!).
First thing first, I'm totally not a Jun Ji Hyun fan, didn't like the Dream High series and of course never paid attention to him. But maybe this drama will change my view. Judging from the first two episodes, this seems like a pretty good drama! There's a sense of humor in the drama which I liked and let's see how the drama progresses! :)

image

Prime Minister and I ★★★★☆

Didn't had high hopes for this drama. Perhaps because I didn't expect much from many singer turned actress people which in this case is Yoona from Girls' Generation. But...... Turns out that I really enjoy Yoona acting in this show! She really portray her emotions really well and especially when she have to act for her crying scenes due to her family problems. She has definitely improved so much in her acting, kudos to her! Another reason why I didnt expect much from this drama was that she was acting beside such an OLD actor. I wasn't being bias or what, and I think "Lee Bum Soo" should be some well-respected veteran actor in the k-drama world. But sorry! I do not know who he was previously. Never seen any of his works before. But quite amazingly, he really portray his role as a Prime Minister so well that I thought was rather charismatic! *O* Haha really like it during scenes where he speaks with so much justice and passion to serve the nation! I'm sure Yoona is slowly swooning over him as well!! Haha and the supporting actor, Yoon Si Hoo is such a cutie as well!!!!! Seems like there would be a love triangle!! :) Side track: Supporting actress "Chae Yeon Ah" looks so much like Boa in the drama poster somehow, am I the only one that think so? Haha

That's my take on the current dramas based on the initial few episodes that I've watched so far, hoping that my top two favourite "Prime Minister and I" & "You who came from the stars" wouldn't disappoint us!

Cafe adventures: Windowsill in the woods

image

Located at 78 Horne road which is actually very near from Lavender Mrt, Windowsill is a must try with their all famous pies!

image

image

image

Really love the theme of the cafe, lots of wood was used to create the "woodsy" feeling and yes do expect a crowd on the weekends.

image

The pies were really unique, nothing like I've tried before. Maybe perhaps in Singapore, pies aren't quite widely offered yet(?), so are pies the new thing now? Nonetheless, it's worth a visit for their pies, from a selection of 8 flavours, we chose the Mint flavour (also known as Grasshopper) and the S'mores flavoured one. The pie's crust was nicely baked however the pie filling itself was too soft for my liking, it's my first time so not sure how it would normally taste like.

Do check out their range of flavours from their website before heading down! http://windowsillpies.sg/pies/

Make-up junkie - Nov faves

1) Banila & Co. Cc cream

image

So finally I've got myself a CC cream, after spending so much time researching, I settled on the Banila & Co.'s CC cream. First of all, I must say that I really like this brand, read somewhere that among the vast Korean cosmetic brands, this is a better than average brand in the market. By average, I actually mean brands like Etude house etc. Previously, I bought their make up base in shimmer and I repurchase another but this time in the original one. I think Banila & Co. never fail to deliver!

Why I like it: SPF 30++, creates fairer/less duller look, not greasy! Creates a good base before I apply my bb cream

2) Real Techniques Make-up brushes

image

Well, I actually stayed away from using my Lancome liquid foundation for some time already. But ever since I got my hands on these brushes, applying liquid foundation has never been easier. The brushes were light-weight, application is effortless and foundation just went on like a dream. Yes it's thattttttt good, I've never own much other brushes besides my ecotools brushes to say this. But these brushes are some really good stuff! Try it and you'll know. Actually, I've always wanted to buy Sigma brushes but they cost a bomb, I got the "Core collection" set which only cost like $32 (check out http://www.under-twenty20.com), don't you think these brushes are such a steal? :) Oh ya, imo these brushes were created by famous makeup youtuber - pixiewoo (honestly, I've got no idea who's she, but thanks for making these brushes! :D)

Pretty much for my Nov faves! Tadah~ :)

Bijin Nabe @ Plaza Sing extension

image

Nowadays we see Collagen products ranging from drinks, pills and now even steamboat. Yes, STEAMBOAT. Bijin Nabe (a.k.a 美人锅, Beauty pot) has another branch at Chinatown besides this PS one..

Shop looks really Japanese (duh) and service was good as well, waitresses wore something that looked like Kimono to me. But only downside is............ THE QUEUE. When me and Jasmine arrived there, we were on this waiting list and we waited around 30-45mins.. haha, so yeah be earlier or just avoid the dinner crowd. Before 7pm, they were full for the night already O.O

image

Interior of the shop. Pretty small imo, but really love the Japanese feel to it.

image

Their speciality is the Collegen steamboat and they have some other items on the menu but we just tried the Steamboat only. Ordering was easy, the steamboat includes everything you see from the picture above and we just had to choose the noodles we wanted. Simple!

image

Here comes the Collagen filled "pudding" as they called it. Doesn't really look appealing as it sounds like.

image

Put on a really grumpy face because I wasn't really keen to eat that "blob-of-what-looked-like-fats" to me at that moment. Haha!

image

Managed to forced a smile :)

image

So the Collagen pudding actually melts into Soup form and it is unexpectedly super tasty! Expected it to be oily with all that Collagen content but no~ didn't even see a trace of oil. And as what I mentioned about the great service earlier, the waitress would help you to place the food into the pot instead of us helping ourselves to it. Portion was just alright or maybe abit too much for girls (Me and Jas didn't managed to finish).

image

Before we left, the waitress actually gave us complimentary small cubes of jelly with a cute "Arigato" on a plate. So cuteeeeeeee!

image

Waitress also passed us a card and apparently after eating a splendid meal there I became the "Assistant Manager" there. So on my next visit, I would be promoted to "Manager" level! What an interesting marketing(?) way! Paid roughly $30 each person but it was worth the visit, but I doubt I would visit it any time soon again.. :P

This pretty much sums up my weekend.

Spend my Saturday evening at MBS celebrating Alexis' 20th birthday! :) First time there and it was a memorable one, thanks for inviting me Alexis!!! It was a difference birthday experience, really pleasant to have a group of close friends celebrate your special day with you rather than a big rowdy crowd. Not saying i prefer either but it was just really special. The view outside was great too, we could see 'Gardens by the bay' just right outside our window.

Obligatory shot in front of a Christmas tree.

image

Tiara. Supposed to be "Princess" themed party.

image

Posing for a picture in our not so "Princess" dresses.

image

Happy in the suite room with the beautiful cake. Too bad I didnt get a close up view of it, it had this dainty princess sitting on top of it and "ALEXIS" spelled in gold across it. Really pretty.

image

First time up at the FAMOUS Infinity pool. I wonder when will I ever get the chance to go up again.. The view was indeed magnificent. :')
image

Ordered past midnight desserts. How sinful.

image

Last shot with our goofy faces :)

Goodnights.

A day at Legoland~

So.. Recently (just on monday actually), me and a couple of my friends went on a mini getaway to LEGOLAND.

Just wanted to share a bit from a teenager's perspective. Took many pretty pictures so wanted to post them up as well!

We 3 brave girls went to take malaysia's public bus. So basically, it's actually quite easy, after coming out from the Malaysia Checkpoint (from Woodlands checkpoint), walk towards the direction of City Square Mall and before going indoors to this air-conditioned place (where's there's Starbucks at the entrance) you can see the bus terminal just an escalator down away on your left. The bus we took had a timing schedule and we caught the 11am one and we were actually a little early that day. There's a number of buses you can take from Malaysia to Legoland which you may refer to here http://www.legoland.com.my/plan/bus-services/, we took bus LM1.

P1000475

P1000476

The public bus is actually quite clean imo, except for the baby cockroach that I saw.

The bus took roughly around 45 mins to an hour to reach Legoland which I thought was quite long. But nevertheless, we reached our destination! :D

A must shot tourist style picture in front of the LEGOLAND main gate.

The colourful ticket counter.

The hotel which is set to open in 2014, looking cute.. Took this picture when we were in the tower

At this time the Legoland Waterpark is already open but we didn't choose to go there. Somehow it looks rather small despite being the World's Largest Legoland Waterpark..

P1000495

There were so many LEGO figurines around the whole park which I really liked:) Some could "talk" as well!

P1000503P1000510

A section of the park is "LEGO Kingdoms" and had a really nice castle theme to it.

P1000497 P1000520 P1000518

A few of the rides that we took. Frankly speaking, the rides weren't as "kiddy" as I thought it would be, some were actually quite thrilling! Like the "Lego Technic", I really liked this one.

P1000562

Sharon posing with this Legoman she found cute. haha

Me and Alexis just fooling around :P

P1000568

P1000565

A really cute firefighter station!! They had a ride there, which was more like a game where you had to move the firetruck forward and spray the hose to extinguish the "fire" hahaha. Too bad my video of Sharon and Alexis playing it was ruined somehow. :(

P1000555

The railway station!!!

P1000572

Some mummy ride that we didn't take but it really reminds of the ride we have at USS.

Here comes the most interesting part (at least to me) of Legoland,.......................... the Mini Land!!!

I was so captivated by the intriged design of the whole thing! Look at Singapore!! The merlion, the Singapore Flyer, the Raffles place towers, Clarke Quay and it's tiny boats, there's even an SBS that moves!

Haha just found everything so fascinating..

Here are the pictures of the other countries, from top left: India, Vietnam, Myanmar, China, Cambodia, Indonesia (Bali), Philippines. (Pardon me if I wrote wrongly, not well versed in this.)

Parts of Malaysia, which I didn't recognised, but the cruise and aeroplane were really nice. Not to forget the Petronas Twin Tower! :)

P1000633 P1000632 P1000631 P1000636

We spent our last 30 minutes at the MiniLand, everything was just so breathtaking, it was like taking a mini-tour around the world! Places that I never get to visit.

And thanks God the weather was great that day, weirdly the sun was the hottest when it was mid-noon..

Lunch-tip: Try to visit "Mall of Medini" located just outside the Themepark. It's not exactly a mall but there's way more choices of food outside (we had Secret Recipe for lunch and Black Ball for dessert) and the prices are the relatively reasonable.

Last but not least, dont forget to visit the stores there, they sell everything from Lego keychains, mugs, eraser, tumblr, figurine keychains etc which were all so cute :D

That's all for my mini get-away, now, back to work!
